Our Story

Suzy Kuj first discovered her calling to South Sudan following the devastating famine of 1998. Suzy witnessed firsthand horrifying scenes of people living without food for more than 2 months and literally starving to death in the town of Tonj, South Sudan. Video footage of that event was sent to churches throughout America and they watched it in disbelief. This changed Suzy’s life forever. Accountable for what she had seen, she vowed to make herself available to God in whatever way He chose.

Her passion for the people of South Sudan led her to put aside her own safety and risk going into the heart of the civil war to bring the hope of the Gospel to the people. The Word of God says in 1 John 3:16-18, “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” Through her efforts to effect change, Suzy began praying for the overwhelming needs surrounding them and asked God to direct her paths to the area He wanted her to work in.

Together with the generous support of Kingdom partners, Suzy founded In Deed and Truth Ministries serving in Tonj, South Sudan today. She has laid down her life for the sake of bringing the gospel to a much needed community. By living among the Dinka people as a family, they have entered into the suffering and brought hope in desperate situations. God has opened the doors for them to minister to the medical needs of children, orphans, widows, expectant mothers, elderly, disabled and lepers. Without their intervention many of these patients would have died. Through pastoral training of 13 native pastors, In Deed and Truth Ministries has multiplied its effectiveness on the ground enabling us to evangelize over a widespread area of Warrap state and bringing salvation through Jesus Christ to thousands of Southern Sudanese.

We are committed to Jesus Christ and to glorifying Him through obedience to all He commanded, including compassion for the poorest of the poor.

In Deed and Truth Ministries

Is under the leadership of Suzy Kuj and in partnership with the Body of Christ, we provide a platform for those ‘called’ to empower community owned transformation through spiritual and physical training as well as assistance to an impoverished community through prayer, generous giving of gifts and volunteer service.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe

in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe

We believe
in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. Galatians 5:16-18; Romans 8:9

in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment. Revelation 20:11-15; I Corinthians 15:51-57

in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the Church. Ephesians 1:22-23; I Corinthians 12:12, 27
